About Us…
Grays Steel Designs cc, manufacturer and owner of the registered Shutterway Stylish Security design, is owned and run by the father-son team of Gray and Andre Holland.
Shutterway was developed after the request of a family member who required household security, but did not care for the jail like look of the expandable security options and burglar bars that are commonplace on the market. Gray Holland came up with a design which was secure and at the same time pleasing on the eye. With such positive feedback from everyone who saw that first unit, Shutterway Stylish Security was born.
“I remember learning a valuable lesson from my father. It was standard six woodwork class. The project: design and make your own tea tray. All the other kids in the class came up with these over decorative tea tray designs, with unnecessary flutes and kinks on the handles. I was considering what to do, when my father offered this advice: “simplicity is the essence of design”. I made a tea tray with a simple, functional handle, and it looked the best in the class. This is the ethos that has been carried through to Shutterway. We’re all about clean, simple lines, underlying the functional and sturdy fabrication of each of our custom made units. And that tea tray is still floating around our office as a reminder…” – Andre Holland
