Life Matters Foundation Fundraiser a Resounding Success!

Founded in 2002 with a vision to serve the community schools in a relevant, creative way, The Life Matters Foundation has since contributed to the lasting, positive change in many children’s lives. Shutterway is extremely proud to be a supporter of their worthy cause and the passionate work that goes into the initiative.

We attended their most recent fundraising event and were blown away by how much the foundation has grown. In their own words:

We cannot believe we are more than half way through the school year! We have had a very busy year and are seeing much growth in the children on our programmes, and in our organisation!

Your support is making a difference!

Their 6th Annual Fundraiser was a resounding success – it managed to raise a staggering R290 100 for the foundation. This money will go a long way towards cementing the foundation’s goal of providing children with the tools they need to become leaders and successes in society.

They had this to say:

We want to thank all those who attended and were generous in their giving, the event would never have been as successful as it was without your support.

Shutterway would like to add that the exceptional dedication, sacrifice, and passion of the Life Matters Foundation is something to be marvelled at. The work that goes into the foundation is a constant inspiration for us and a pure example of what can be achieved when a group of people come together for a good cause.

As The Life Matters Foundation operates in schools in the Steenberg and Retreat area, an area where many of Shutterway’s factory staff reside, we know first-hand some of the challenges that these communities face. Many students drop out in their early high school careers, limiting their future employment options and further exacerbating the huge unemployment and lack of skills situation we experience in South Africa. This inevitably has a relationship to the high crime levels we experience in the country. While we manufacture security barriers largely for those better off sectors of our society, we find this little bit of giving back into such a primary need – education – quite relevant.
