Shutterway is proud to have contributed to the Riding for the African Angels Independent School initiative. Along with the support of Harcourts and mountain bikers both local and international, we were able to raise R55, 000 towards the school’s teacher-training programme.
This is nothing short of astounding, and Shutterway is privileged to have taken part in the process.
The African Angels Independent School was established in January 2012. The school provides a high quality education to some of the poorest children in the Eastern Cape, with the aim of breaking the poverty cycle through education.
Here’s some more information about the important work they do, from their website:
‘Previously tired classrooms and ablution facilities have been refurbished with the assistance of volunteer groups and donated resources; the school has secured the premises on a favourable long term lease; fully qualified teachers have been employed to teach the students with an approved and enhanced curriculum. Our computer lab was installed in June 2013, and we are always improving the facilities available to our children.’
If cycling for a good cause interests you, join Shutterway and our esteemed partners at 5.30am, 21 November 2015, in front of the Jikeleza Info Center at the Crossways Village Centre. Let’s pedal for education, together!
