This year we were part of Decorex Cape Town and walked away from the exhibition with a massive feather in our cap.
Winner of the most innovative product award
On Friday 25 April 2014, Decorex held an awards ceremony recognising the best stands, products and interaction at its Cape Town show. The CEO of the Word Design Capital, Alayne Reesberg, Interior Design icons Salome Gunther and Bobby Breen, as well as product designer Heath Nash took on the task of deciding who should receive praise at this year’s award ceremony. The panel of judges announced Shutterway to be the winner of the Most Innovative Product award.
We feel extremely honoured to receive such praise. The judges added that they believe our Shutterway louvred security design to be an unbelievably attractive solution to a unique South African problem which is truly deserving of the most innovative product award.
Receiving an award for an innovative product is the ultimate pat on the back. The idea of the louvre style security unit design was born after a family member mentioned to Gray Holland that they needed to install security gates and burglar bars, but weren’t a fan of the jail-like look that the expandable security options gave. That’s when Gray came up with the louvre design for security gates and burglar bars. All the positive feedback that came from the installation of first unit lead to the birth of Shutterway and our stylish security option.
Great quote about innovation
This is one of our favourite quotes about innovation. We find that it sums up the creation of our Shutterway louvred security units very well.
Innovation is taking two things that already exist and putting them together in a new way.– Tom Freston
Thank you Decorex for this prestigious award. We’ll be installing our louvred security units all the way through 2014 with an extra spring in our step. See you at Cape Town Decorex 2015.
