Every once in a while Shutterway’s team is presented with a particularly challenging brief. While we relish the opportunity to overcome the structural obstacles of a particular residence, it doesn’t mean it’s easy to do so!
Many hours of research and team brainstorms go into finding solutions for our clients. This is to ensure that the Shutterway security gates we deliver are nothing short of perfect for their property.
The internal safety gates we had to install at a southern suburbs apartment was a job we definitely had to put our heads together for!
It was indeed a challenging brief, as our client was in the midst of refurbishing the residence as a safe and secure UCT student accommodation. More specifically, they wanted the students to have the ability to lock an internal gate at night time for ultimate security.
While Shutterway secured the front entrance and downstairs windows, we also added the internal security gate. Knowing that anybody breaching a primary barrier will not be able to access the upstairs sleeping area of the apartment affords the residents that extra bit safety and peace of mind.
The challenge was that we had to utilise an existing steel balustrade for fixing, and came up with a solution of multiple fixed panels that combine together at 90 degree angles. The installers tapped a thread through the existing balustrade to a secured the middle panel. This meant that the end result was an enclosure that was safe and secure, and didn’t infringe upon the space, nor detract from the aesthetics of the recent apartment renovation.
All in all, Shutterway can happily say that we are proud with the final product. Here’s to another happy customer who’s satisfied with a custom solution, and many more to come in 2017!
